Baked Apples from Phillis Pellman Good

Lighter than dumplings or a cobbler, yet dessert-like. Eat warm from the oven—plain or with milk, whipped cream, or ice cream. These apples also complement mush and eggs, scrapple, and friend potatoes.

Ingrediënten

  • 10 apples cored, peeled, and cut in half
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. butter or margarine melted
  • 1 cup water

Instructies

  • Place apples in a greased 9” x 13” baking pan.
  • Mix remaining ingredients together in order in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Simmer, stirring, until thickened.
  • Pour syrup over apples and bake at 350° for 30–45 minutes or until apples are tender.
