Basic Shredded Pork
Puerco DeschebradaThis is an easy recipe for cooking pork for stews or shredded meat recipes. It is a basic preparation that is used in many ways for tacos, enchiladas, tostadas, burritos, and more.

Makes about 2 cups shredded meat
- 1½ pounds boneless pork meat cut from the sirloin or shoulder
- ½ medium onion sliced
- 2 medium garlic cloves peeled
- 1 bay leaf
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructies
- Cut the meat into 1-inch cubes.
- Put into a large pot with the onion, garlic, bay leaf, and salt.
- Add water to cover by about 1-inch.
- Bring to a boil, skimming the surface as needed.
- Reduce the heat, cover and simmer until tender, about 45 minutes.
- Remove from the heat, uncover, and cool the meat in the broth.
- When the meat is cool, pour the broth through a strainer into a container and save.
