  • 2 c. mayonnaise
  • ½ c. fresh sage finely chopped, or 3 T. dried sage
  • 2 T. lemon juice
  • 1 T. plus 1 t. lemon zest
  • 1 T. garlic minced
  • 1 t. pepper

Instructies

  • Whisk together all ingredients.
  • Cover and store in the refrigerator for up to one week

Ingrediënten

  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 7 T. butter softened
  • 7 T. crumbled blue cheese
  • ½ t. dried parsley
  • 1 egg yolk
  • t. salt
  • 4 t. whipping cream
  • cayenne pepper to taste

Instructies

  • Mix all ingredients together; let rest for 30 minutes.
  • Roll dough out to about 1/8-inch thick.
  • Use small cookie cutters to cut out crackers.
  • Bake on ungreased baking sheets at 400 degrees for 8 to 10
  • minutes, just until golden.
  • Let cool; remove carefully.
  • Store in an airtight container

Mom’s Hot Bacon Dressing

My mom used to make this all the time to drizzle over fresh endive…it’s a country classic. This dressing is very good added to homemade hot potato salad too.

Ingrediënten

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 T. sugar
  • 2 T. all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 T. cider vinegar
  • ¼ c. water
  • ¾ c. milk

Instructies

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp.
  • Remove bacon and reserve drippings in skillet.
  • In a small bowl, mix sugar, flour, egg and vinegar until smooth.
  • Stir in water and milk and add to drippings.
  • Crumble bacon and return to skillet.
  • Cook over medium-low heat until thickened.
  • More water or milk may be added until dressing reaches desired consistency.
  • Serve warm.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to one week.

  • 3 c. cucumbers peeled and sliced
  • 1 onion thinly sliced
  • ¾ c. sugar
  • c. white vinegar
  • ½ t. celery seed
  • ½ t. mustard seed
  • ¼ t. salt

Instructies

  • Mix cucumbers and onion in a glass or plastic bowl; set aside.
  • Stir remaining ingredients together in a microwave-safe container.
  • Microwave on high for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes.
  • Pour over
  • cucumber mixture.
  • Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours before serving to blend flavors.
  • Keep refrigerated.

  • 1-1/2 t. ground cumin
  • salt to taste
  • 3 pita rounds split

Garnish:

  • additional salt
  • cumin

Instructies

  • In a small bowl, stir together oil, cumin and salt.
  • Brush the cut sides of the pita rounds with oil mixture.
  • Cut each round into 6 triangles.
  • Arrange in a single layer in an ungreased 15″x10″ jelly-roll pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, until golden.
  • Toss warm crisps with additional salt and cumin; let cool.
  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.

  • 2 to 3- lb. pork roast
  • 2 onions chopped
  • 12- oz. bottle barbecue sauce
  • ¼ c. honey
  • 6 to 8 sandwich rolls split

Instructies

  • Place pork in a slow cooker.
  • Add onions, barbecue sauce and honey.
  • Cover and cook on low setting for 6 to 8 hours.
  • Use 2 forks to shred roast; mix well.
  • Serve on rolls.
