There’s something extremely off-putting about drinking your vegetables, but anything that touts unscientifically proven results of getting skinny makes it worth trying, right? And no, I don’t need Kylie Jenner’s approval (even though I really want it). In all honesty, I’m happy the juice cleanse fad has been reined in and we can use drinks like these to supplement our diets and make us feel good. I like to guzzle this right when I wake up on an empty stomach, because it activates my intestines into doing things we classy ladies like to pretend we never, ever do.

Ingrediënten

FOR THE CELERY JUICE

  • 1 bunch celery ends trimmed, cut into thirds
  • ÂĽ cup water

FOR THE GREEN JUICE

  • 1 cup baby spinach
  • 1 green apple cored and quartered
  • ½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice from 3 medium lemons
  • 1 1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled
  • 1 English cucumber quartered
  • 1 cup fresh flat-leaf parsley

Instructies

  • First make the celery juice: In a blender, combine the celery and water.
  • Blend on high until smooth.
  • Strain through cheesecloth into a bowl, squeezing the cheesecloth to extract all the juice.
  • Discard the celery pulp.
  • Transfer to an airtight jar and refrigerate until cold or up to 24 hours.
  • Next make the green juice: Place 1½ cups of the celery juice, the spinach, apple, lemon juice, ginger, cucumber, and parsley in a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Strain through cheesecloth into a pitcher, squeezing the cheesecloth to extract all the juice.
  • Discard the pulp.
  • Transfer to the fridge to chill.
  • When ready to serve, pour into four glasses and serve immediately.

Kick your green juice up a notch by adding a shot of wheatgrass.
JUST THE TIPS

It’s ideal to make a green juice in a juicer, but if you don’t have one on hand, you can use a high-speed blender.
