This dish is so dependent upon whatever is available, either in the garden, local orchard, or canning shelves, that a recipe for it is almost needless. Nonetheless, it is a treat, reserved for special occasions because of the vast amount of chopping it requires

Ingrediënten

  • apples use several varieties with peelings on to add color
  • peaches fresh or canned
  • pears fresh or canned
  • apricots fresh or canned
  • bananas
  • grapes any variety, but seeded
  • Other fruits may be added in lesser amounts as available:
  • strawberries
  • sweet cherries seeded
  • blueberries
  • raspberries
  • plums

Instructies

  • Cut each large fruit into small pieces.
  • Fold all together gently.
  • Use at least one or two canned fruits so the salad is juicy rather than dry.
  • Add the apples and bananas just before serving so they do not darken or get mushy
