Ingrediënten

  • 1 can 15 oz. of your favorite chili
  • cup Monterey Jack and medium Cheddar cheese cubed
  • 10 oz. sliced medium Cheddar cheese
  • 10 slices sourdough bread
  • Tortilla chips
  • Butter or butter spread

Instructies

  • Empty the can of chili into a small saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir in the cubed cheese.
  • As the cheese begins to melt, stir to blend it into the chili.
  • Once the cheese has completely melted and blended into the chili, remove it from heat.
  • Transfer the chili cheese mixture to a covered container and place it in the fridge for about 45 minutes to chill.
  • This will help thicken the chili and make it easier to work with when building the sandwiches.
  • Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • On the unbuttered side of five slices of bread, layer slices of Cheddar cheese and spread equal amounts of the chilled chili cheese mixture.
  • Add a handful of tortilla chips on top of the chili mixture, followed by more slices of Cheddar cheese.
  • Top each sandwich with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side facing out.
  • Cook the sandwiches at 325°F for four minutes on each side.
  • Serve hot and enjoy the delicious fusion of flavors!
