Green Bean Almondine (with a twist)
This twist on the classic green bean almondine features sautéed mushrooms, onions, garlic, and optional imitation bacon bits for a savory, satisfying dish!

- Large frying pan, Strainer, Knife, Cutting board
Ingrediënten
- 1 pound 455 g fresh green beans
- ÂĽ cup 25 g imitation bacon bits, store-bought or homemade (optional)
- ÂĽ cup 25 g slivered or sliced almonds
- 2 tablespoons 30 g minced garlic
- 1 cup 160 g diced yellow onion
- 8 ounces 227 g sliced mushrooms
- 3 cups 705 ml water
- 2 tablespoons 28 g nondairy butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructies
- Trim the ends off the green beans.
- In your largest frying pan, add the water and bring to a boil (you can add a pinch of salt if you choose).
- Add the green beans and boil for 3 minutes.
- Remove from the heat, drain, and set aside.
- Reheat the pan and add the nondairy butter.
- Heat over high heat.
- When the butter has melted, add the mushrooms, onion, and garlic.
- Sauté until the mushrooms have reduced in size by half, about 7 minutes.
- Add the almonds and bacon bits (if using).
- Cook for 2 more minutes.
- Add the green beans and toss to coat.
- Cook for 3 to 5 more minutes, then season with salt and pepper.
