Herb-Infused Baked Apples
A unique twist on baked apples with the savory touch of thyme, paired with sweet jam and ground almonds for a cozy autumn dessert.
Equipment
- 8-inch (20-cm) square baking dish
- Measuring cups and spoons

- Small bowl for jam
Ingrediënten
- 42 g 3 tablespoons nondairy butter, divided
- 15 ml 1 tablespoon water
- 2 baking apples such as Granny Smith or Golden Delicious, halved and cored
- 24 g ¼ cup ground toasted almonds
- 40 g 2 tablespoons sour cherry or other jam
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme optional
Instructies
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C or gas mark 5).
- Place 1 tablespoon (14 g) of the nondairy butter and water in an 8-inch (20 cm) square baking dish.
- In each apple cavity, place 1½ teaspoons of the remaining butter, followed by 1 tablespoon of ground almonds and 1½ teaspoons of jam.
- Sprinkle each halved apple with ¼ teaspoon dried thyme (optional).
- Bake the apples for 25 to 30 minutes, or until they are tender but not mushy.
- Let the apples rest for a few minutes before serving.
- They can be enjoyed hot, at room temperature, or cold.
