Equipment

  • 8-inch (20-cm) square baking dish
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Knife and spoon for coring apples
  • Small bowl for jam

Ingrediënten

  • 42 g 3 tablespoons nondairy butter, divided
  • 15 ml 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 baking apples such as Granny Smith or Golden Delicious, halved and cored
  • 24 g ¼ cup ground toasted almonds
  • 40 g 2 tablespoons sour cherry or other jam
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme optional

Instructies

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C or gas mark 5).
  • Place 1 tablespoon (14 g) of the nondairy butter and water in an 8-inch (20 cm) square baking dish.
  • In each apple cavity, place 1½ teaspoons of the remaining butter, followed by 1 tablespoon of ground almonds and 1½ teaspoons of jam.
  • Sprinkle each halved apple with ¼ teaspoon dried thyme (optional).
  • Bake the apples for 25 to 30 minutes, or until they are tender but not mushy.
  • Let the apples rest for a few minutes before serving.
  • They can be enjoyed hot, at room temperature, or cold.
