Honey and Garlic Pork Meatballs

This recipe comes with a sweet sauce that is s perfect complement to these pork meatballs. Try serving them at a party by using a slow cooker or serve them right from the oven. This dish can also be served over rice.

Ingrediënten

  • 1 pound of ground pork
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup of dry bread crumbs crushed
  • 2 tablespoons of cilantro finely chopped (optional)
  • 2 green onions finely chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of salt or to taste
  • 2 teaspoons of butter
  • ½ cup of ketchup
  • ¼ cup of honey
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of soy sauce
  • Sriracha sauce of Tabasco to taste

Instructies

  • Preheat the oven to 400° F.
  • Line a cookie sheet with tinfoil. Lightly spray the tinfoil with cooking spray.
  • Combine the pork, egg, bread crumbs, green onion, 1 pressed clove of garlic, salt, pepper, and cilantro in a large mixing bowl.
  • Mix until everything is well blended, but do not over mix.
  • Shape mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  • Place the meatballs on the cookie sheet, and bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • The meatballs should be cooked thoroughlyand no longer pink in the center.
  • Meanwhile, use a saucepan over medium heat to prepare the sauce.
  • Melt the butter first.
  • Add the garlic when the butter is foamy, and cook for about 1 minute.
  • Add the ketchup, honey, soy sauce, and hot sauce.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for another minute.
  • Combine the meatballs and sauce in a serving dish.
  • Mix to coat the meatballs with sauce.
