Hot honey sauce

Hot honey sauce

Hot Honey Sauce is a common condiment for fried chicken in parts of the southern United States. Combining the flavors of sweet and spicy, this is a ridiculously easy recipe that brings big flavor. We’ve used it on deep-fried catfish and chicken-fried steak as well. Using a smoky pepper like chipotle adds a whole new dimension of flavor to this classic. As with any spicy food, the heat level is a matter of personal preference, so feel free to reduce or increase the amount of pepper to your liking. Many recipes for hot honey sauce call for simply mixing the ingredients together and serving, but we like to heat ours for a short time so that the flavors can truly combine. However, it’s important to let the sauce come down to room temperature after cooking so that it will thicken up before using. You can store this sauce in the refrigerator for up to five days, but bring it back to room temperature or gently heat it before using.
