Italian Sausage Pasta with Marinara
Ingrediënten
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- ¾ cup chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 14-1/2 ounce can diced tomatoes
- 15- ounce can tomato sauce
- 12- ounce can tomato paste
- 2 cups water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 1-1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 bay leaf
- 3 tablespoons grated Romano cheese
- 1 pound ground hot Italian pork sausage formed into 8 patties
- 16- ounce package whole wheat spaghetti pasta cooked
Garnish:
- grated Parmesan cheese
Instructies
- Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until tender.
- Stir in diced tomatoes with juice, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water, sugar, and seasonings.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Discard the bay leaf and stir in Romano cheese.
- Cover and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
- In a separate skillet, brown the sausage patties on both sides until no longer pink in the middle, about 10 minutes.
- Divide the cooked spaghetti among serving bowls.
- Top each serving with a sausage patty and generously ladle the marinara sauce over the top.
- Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese.
