Maple Nut Scones

Ingrediënten

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup nuts finely chopped (walnuts or pecans are good in this recipe)
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • cup chilled butter cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • sugar for sprinkling coarse sugar if you have it, but regular granulated will work also

Instructies

  • Preheat the oven to 425°.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, nuts, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbles.
  • Add the milk and maple syrup and stir to mix; the dough should hold together but be soft.
  • Turn out onto a very lightly floured surface and knead about 5 to 8 times.
  • Roll out the dough into a circle about ½ inch thick.
  • Cut into 10 to 12 wedges and place on a greased baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle the tops with a bit of sugar.
  • Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until done.
