Peppered-Ham Tossed Salad

This salad complements most Italian dishes well.

Ingrediënten

Makes 4 to 6 servings / Prep: 20 min.

  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup red wine vinegar
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ pound thinly sliced black-peppered ham cut into thin strips
  • ½ medium-size red onion thinly sliced
  • 1 medium-size green bell pepper seeded and cut into thin strips
  • 2 celery ribs sliced
  • 4 pickled cherry peppers seeded and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
  • 2 heads Boston lettuce torn into bite-size pieces

Garnish:

  • pickled cherry peppers

Instructies

  • Combine first 3 ingredients in a jar; cover tightly.
  • Set aside.
  • Toss together ham and next 6 ingredients in a large bowl.
  • Shake dressing vigorously, and drizzle ¾ cup over salad; toss gently.
  • Reserve remaining dressing for another use.
  • Garnish salad, if desired.
