Equipment

Ingrediënten

  • 4 tbsp. honey
  • 2 tbsp. dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. Shaoxing rice cooking wine
  • 1 tbsp. hoisin sauce
  • 2 tsp. minced garlic
  • 2 tsp. minced ginger
  • 1 tsp. Chinese five spice
  • 1 pound 453 g boneless pork shoulder or pork belly

Instructies

Marinating the Pork:

  • Using a fork, pierce the slices of pork well.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine honey, dark soy sauce, brown sugar, Shaoxing rice cooking wine, hoisin sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, and Chinese five spice to make the sauce.
  • Place the pork slices in a ziplock bag or bowl, and pour in half of the sauce.
  • Mix well to coat the pork evenly.
  • Marinate the pork for up to 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Cooking the Char Siu Pork:

  • Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (180°C).
  • Remove the pork from the marinade and place it in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  • Cook the pork in the air fryer for 15 minutes, turning it over halfway through the cooking time and basting it with the reserved sauce.
  • While the pork is cooking, place the reserved half of the sauce in a microwave-safe bowl and cook it on high for 45 to 60 seconds, stirring every 15 seconds, to thicken it slightly.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the pork has reached an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  • Remove the pork from the air fryer and transfer it to a cutting board.
  • Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  • Brush the cooked sauce over the pork slices, then slice and serve.
