A Cherry Compote with Lemon Verbena

Ingredients

Serves 4 to 6

  • 2 cups sweet cherries halved and pitted
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 5 lemon verbena leaves

Instructions

  • In a small pot, combine the cherries and sugar.
  • Add ¼ cup water and the lemon verbena.
  • Set the pot over low heat and stir occasionally until the mixture comes to a simmer.
  • Simmer until the cherries are completely soft, 6 to 8 minutes.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and discard the lemon verbena.
  • Serve warm.
