Authentic Japanese Chicken Teriyaki
Savor the flavors of Japan with this traditional chicken teriyaki, marinated in a rich, tangy sauce and cooked to perfection.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds chicken breast halved
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons Mirin
- ¼ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon ginger peeled and grated
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
Instructions
- In a large ceramic dish, place the chicken, lemon juice, Mirin, milk, soy sauce, olive oil, ginger, and garlic.
- Marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Spritz the sides and bottom of the Air Fryer cooking basket with nonstick spray.
- Arrange the chicken in the basket and cook at 370°F for 10 minutes.
- Turn the chicken over, baste with the reserved marinade, and cook for an additional 4 minutes.
- Check for doneness, season with salt and pepper, and set aside.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add the reserved marinade and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Mix the cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water, add to the marinade, and cook until the sauce thickens.
- Spoon the thickened sauce over the reserved chicken and serve immediately.
