Ingredients

Makes 8 (4-inch) waffles

    Prep: 10 min., Cook: 15 min.

    • 4 large eggs separated
    • 3 tablespoons butter melted
    • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup milk
    • Sweetened whipped cream
    • Sliced fresh strawberries

    Instructions

    • Beat egg yolks at medium speed with an electric mixer until thick and pale.
    • Add butter and vanilla, beating until blended.
    • Set aside.
    • Combine flour and salt.
    • Add flour mixture and milk to egg mixture, beating until smooth.
    • Set aside.
    • Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form, and fold into batter.
    • Bake in a preheated, oiled waffle iron until golden.
    • Serve with sweetened whipped cream and strawberries.
