Chinese BBQ Pork

Ingredients

  • 2 pork tenderloins
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • cup honey
  • cup ketchup
  • cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup Chinese rice wine
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder optional

Instructions

  • Cut pork with the grain into strips.
  • Transfer to a large resealable bag.
  • In a saucepan, add soy sauce, honey, ketchup, brown sugar, rice wine, hoisin sauce, red food coloring, and Chinese five-spice powder; stirring occasionally.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add marinade to pork, squeeze air from the bag, and seal.
  • Refrigerate for 2 hours.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat.
  • Grease grate with oil.
  • Separate pork from marinade.
  • Place meat grill and roast for 20 minutes.
  • Place a container of water onto the grill and cook for an hour.
