Fried Plantains

Plátanos Machos Fritos
Plantains are large firm "cooking bananas" with a mild flavor. They are ready to eat when the skin is almost black and slightly soft when pressed lightly. Plantains are popular all over Mexico, especially along the gulf coast and in tropical and sub-tropical regions where many varieties of bananas are grown, including the sweet regular eating bananas and small varieties of sweet plátano dedo (finger bananas).
