Moist Orange Syrup Cake with Cardamom
A fragrant and moist orange cake infused with cardamom and a sweet syrup.

Ingrediënten
For the Cake:
- 250 g All-purpose flour
- 200 g Sugar
- 100 ml Vegetable oil
- 100 ml Orange juice
- 3 Eggs
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- ½ tsp Baking soda
- 1 tsp Cardamom powder
- Zest of 2 oranges
For the Syrup:
- 150 ml Orange juice
- 100 g Sugar
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
- 1 tsp Cardamom powder
Instructies
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
- In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add vegetable oil and orange juice, mixing well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cardamom powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in orange zest.
- Pour batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the syrup.
- In a saucepan, combine orange juice, sugar, lemon juice, and cardamom powder.
- Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes, until slightly thickened.
- Once the cake is out of the oven, poke holes all over the top with a toothpick.
- Pour the warm syrup evenly over the cake.
- Let the cake cool completely before serving.
