Party-Sized Turkey Meatballs in Marinara Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 small onion chopped
- 3 garlic cloves finely minced
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup of dried bread crumbs
- 3 tablespoons of ketchup
- ¼ cup of Italian parsley leaves chopped
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup grated Pecorino Romano cheese
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- ¼ teaspoon of ground black pepper
- 1 pound ground dark turkey meat
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 26 ounces of marinara sauce
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, ketchup, chopped parsley, grated Parmesan cheese, grated Pecorino Romano cheese, salt, and ground black pepper.
- Blend well.
- Add the ground turkey to the mixture and mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Shape the mixture into 1 ¼-inch meatballs and place them on a large plate or baking sheet.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the meatballs to the skillet and sauté until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.
- Turn off the heat and transfer the browned meatballs to a plate.
- Drain any excess oil from the skillet, then add the marinara sauce to the pan.
- Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer over medium-low heat until the sauce thickens, about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Season the sauce to taste with salt and pepper.
- Transfer the meatballs and sauce to a serving bowl and serve with toothpicks for easy eating.
