Ingredients

  • 1 cup quinoa rinsed
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ cup chopped apples
  • cup raisins
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Honey to taste (optional)

Instructions

  • Rinse the quinoa under cold water in a fine mesh sieve to remove any bitterness.
  • In a saucepan, combine the rinsed quinoa and 2 cups of water.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a lid, and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  • After 5 minutes, add the chopped apples, raisins, and ground cinnamon to the quinoa mixture.
  • Stir well to combine, then cover the saucepan again and continue simmering until the water is fully absorbed and the quinoa is cooked to your desired consistency, usually about 10-15 minutes in total.
  • Once the quinoa is cooked, sweeten the cereal with honey to taste, if desired.
  • Serve the Quinoa Breakfast Cereal hot in bowls, optionally garnished with additional chopped apples or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
