Slow Cooker Moose Roast

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 pounds moose roast
  • 2 cups apple juice
  • 1 1 ounce envelope dry onion soup mix

Instructions

Step 1: Searing the Roast

  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Brown the moose roast on all sides in the hot oil.
  • Remove the seared roast and transfer it to a slow cooker.

Step 2: Slow Cooking

  • Sprinkle the dry onion soup mix evenly over the roast.
  • Pour in the apple juice.
  • Cover and cook on MEDIUM for 6 to 8 hours, or until the moose meat is very tender.
  • Check occasionally to ensure there is sufficient liquid, and add more apple juice if necessary.

Step 3: Serving

  • Serve the moose roast with its juices.

Notes / Tips / Wine Advice:

Optionally, thicken the juices to create a tasty gravy.
