Swiss Cheese Sauce

Ingredients

Makes 2 cups / Prep: 10 min., Cook: 10 min.

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup 4 ounces shredded Swiss cheese
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  • Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat; whisk in flour until smooth.
  • Cook, whisking constantly, 1 minute.
  • Gradually whisk in milk; cook over medium heat, whisking constantly until thickened and bubbly.
  • Add cheese, salt, and pepper, stirring until melted.
