Respectful Trail Mix
The person who invented the open-floor-plan office deserves each and every one of life’s misfortunes. This also applies to the person who decides to eat trail mix in an open-floor-plan office. There is a time and a place for crunching, and three p.m. on a Thursday during literal crunch time is not ideal, Karen. And while my trail mix, chock-full of nuts, dried fruit, and chocolate, may be hard to resist, it’s certainly more appreciated on a hike, during a walk through the park, or post–Barry’s Bootcamp when your cringeworthy chewing noises can be masked by chirping birds and babbling brooks. Thank you in advance for attempting to not be an awful human.
Ingrediënten
- ¾ cup raw walnuts
- ½ cup raw cashews
- Kosher salt
- 1 cup dry-roasted salted almonds
- ½ cup raw hulled pumpkin seeds pepitas
- ¼ cup dried tart cherries
- ¼ cup dried goji berries
- ¼ cup dried apricots chopped
- ¼ cup dark chocolate chips
- ¼ cup yogurt chips
- ¼ cup unsweetened coconut flakes
Instructies
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
- In a medium bowl, toss the walnuts and cashews with a pinch of salt.
- Spread out evenly onto a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes, until fragrant.
- Remove from the oven and let cool.
- In a large bowl, toss together the cooled walnuts and cashews, almonds, pumpkin seeds, cherries, goji berries, apricots, dark chocolate chips, yogurt chips, and coconut flakes.
- Transfer to an airtight container and store at room temperature for up to 3 weeks.

Customize your mix! Just follow the approximate ratio of 50 percent nuts, 30 percent dried fruit, 10 percent seeds, and 10 percent other, aka chocolates/candies/coconut.

Always lightly toast your raw nuts to bring out their flavor.
