Savory Ground Beef and Rice Casserole
Equipment
- 1 large frying pan
- 1 Casserole dish
- aluminum foil or lid for covering the dish
Ingrediënten
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 ⅓ cup Minute Rice or any long-grain rice
- 1 small onion chopped
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 can 14-16 oz tomato sauce
- ¼ cup water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: diced celery
Instructies
Preheat Oven:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Saute Onion:
- In a large frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened and translucent.
Prepare Rice:
- Grease a casserole dish and spread the Minute Rice evenly on the bottom of the dish.
- Top with the cooked onions.
Brown Ground Beef:
- Season the ground beef with salt and pepper.
- In the same frying pan used for the onions, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked.
- Drain any excess grease.
Arrange Ground Beef:
- Arrange the cooked ground beef evenly over the rice and onions in the casserole dish.
Prepare Sauce:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the tomato sauce and water to make the sauce.
Pour Sauce:
- Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the ground beef and rice in the casserole dish.
Bake:
- Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil or a lid and bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the casserole is heated through.
Serve:
- Serve the ground beef and rice casserole hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
