- 4 pork chops about 1 inch thick
- Salt and pepper to taste

- ½ cup canned tomato sauce
- 1 green pepper cleaned and cut into thin strips
- ½ lb. fresh mushrooms sliced, or 1 can (3 oz.) mushroom pieces, drained
- ½ teaspoon oregano
- ⅓ cup tomato juice
- 4 oz. hot Italian sausage optional
Instructies
- Trim excess fat from the pork chops and rinse them under cold water.
- In a bowl, mix salt, pepper, and minced garlic.
- Rub this mixture onto the pork chops.
- Heat olive or vegetable oil in a large skillet and brown the pork chops on both sides.
- Add tomato sauce, green pepper, mushrooms, oregano, and tomato juice to the skillet.
- Cover and cook over low heat for about 30 minutes.
- If using sausage, brown it in a separate pan, drain, and add it to the skillet during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
- Spoon the flavorful sauce over the chops and serve.
