Smoky Ham-Style Seitan Fauxsage
This smoky, sweet ham-style seitan sausage is perfect for sandwiches, pizzas, or frittatas. All the flavor of Black Forest ham without the meat!

Ingrediënten
- 60 g ½ cup garbanzo or fava bean flour
- 72 g ½ cup vital wheat gluten flour
- 120 ml ½ cup water or vegetable broth
- 60 ml ¼ cup canola or vegetable oil
- 14 g 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 15 g 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
- 24 g 1½ tablespoons tomato paste
- ½ –1 teaspoon liquid smoke to taste
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructies
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C, or gas mark 4).
- In a mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients until a smooth, goopy mixture forms.
- Let the mixture rest for 5 minutes.
- Roll the dough into a log and wrap it tightly in aluminum foil, twisting the ends securely.
- Place the wrapped fauxsage on a baking sheet, seam side down, and bake for about 45 minutes or until firm.
- Allow the fauxsage to cool before unwrapping.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for longer storage.
