Spice Cake from Phillis Pellman Good
This soft, gingerbread-like cake can vary slightly in its subtle flavoring by interchanging the spices used, depending upon one’s own and family’s preferences.
Ingrediënten
- 2 cups brown sugar
- ½ cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sour milk
- 2½ cups sifted flour
- 1½ tsp. baking power
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructies
- Cream sugar and butter together until fluffy.
- Add eggs and beat until light.
- Sift together all dry ingredients, then add them alternately with the milk to the creamed mixture, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in the vanilla.
- Pour into greased layer pans or a 9” x 13” cake pan.
- Bake at 350° for 35–40 minutes.
