Spiced Applesauce Bread
Warm and toasty spices give this applesauce quick bread its sweet, homespun character. A generous amount of chopped pecans tucked inside and a crunchy pecan and brown sugar topping ensure nutty flavor in every bite.

- 1¼ cups applesauce
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs lightly beaten
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
- 1½ cups pecans
- ¼ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructies
- Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl; stir well.
- Combine flour and next 6 ingredients; add to applesauce mixture, stirring well.
- Fold in ½ cup pecans.
- Pour batter into a greased 9- x 5-inch loaf pan.
- Combine remaining cup pecans, brown sugar, and ½ teaspoon cinnamon; sprinkle over batter in pan.
- Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool in pan on a wire rack 10 minutes.
- Remove from pan, and cool completely on wire rack.
