Ingrediënten

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¾ cup light corn syrup
  • cup water
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Instructies

  • Mix together all ingredients except vanilla.
  • Stir over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
  • Bring to boil, without stirring further, until mixture reaches the hard ball stage (265°—when a small piece dropped into cold water forms a hard ball).
  • Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and pour into buttered pan.
  • Butter hands.
  • When taffy is cool enough to handle (but not too cool!
  • ), cut in long pieces and pull with a partner until candy becomes satiny, stiff, and light in color.
  • Finished strips should be about ½” wide.
  • Cut in 1½” lengths and wrap individual pieces in waxed paper.
