Ingrediënten

  • 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 large yellow onion chopped
  • 1 large green bell pepper chopped
  • 2 14 1/2-ounce cans diced tomatoes with garlic and onion, undrained
  • 1 15-ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 15-ounce can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 15-ounce can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 15-ounce can black-eyed peas, rinsed and drained
  • 2 1.6-ounce envelopes chili seasoning
  • 2 cups water
  • ¼ teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sugar optional

Toppings:

  • shredded Monterey Jack-Colby cheese
  • chopped green onions
  • sour cream
  • corn chips

Instructies

  • Cook the ground chuck, yellow onion, and green bell pepper in a large Dutch oven over high heat for 10 minutes, stirring until the beef crumbles and is no longer pink.
  • Drain the excess fat and return the mixture to the pan.
  • Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, black beans, black-eyed peas, chili seasoning, water, and ground red pepper.
  • Add sugar if desired.
  • Cook over medium-high heat for 20 minutes.
  • Serve with desired toppings like shredded cheese, chopped green onions, sour cream, and corn chips.
