Warm Spiced Red Wine Poached Pears
Tender pears poached in spiced red wine. A warm and fragrant winter dessert, perfect for festive occasions.
Equipment
- Large saucepan, Peeler, Knife, Measuring cups
Ingrediënten
- 4 ripe pears peeled, cored, and halved
- 750 ml red wine e.g., Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon
- 150 g granulated sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 3 cloves
- 2 star anise
- 1 orange zest and juice
- 1 lemon zest and juice
Instructies
- In a large saucepan, combine red wine, sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves, star anise, orange zest and juice, and lemon zest and juice.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Add the pear halves to the simmering liquid.
- Reduce heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 25-30 minutes, or until pears are tender but still firm.
- Remove pears from the liquid and set aside.
- Increase heat to medium-high and simmer the poaching liquid for 10-15 minutes, or until it reduces and thickens slightly.
- Pour the reduced liquid over the pears.
- Serve warm.
