Dough:

  • 1 package active dry yeast

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

Topping:

  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 12 oz. shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ lb. ground beef crumbled and cooked
  • ¼ lb. Italian sausage crumbled and cooked
  • ¼ lb. pork sausage crumbled and cooked
  • ½ cup pepperoni diced
  • ½ cup Canadian bacon diced
  • ½ cup ham diced
  • ¼ lb. mushrooms sliced
  • 1 small onion sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper seeded and sliced
  • 2 oz. grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine yeast, sugar, and warm water.
  • Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, olive oil, and salt.
  • Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture.
  • Stir to form a soft dough, adding more flour if necessary.
  • Turn the dough onto a floured board and knead for 7–10 minutes until it becomes supple and elastic.
  • Transfer the dough to a large bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  • Punch down the dough.

To assemble the pizza:

  • Roll the dough into a 13-inch circle.
  • Transfer the dough to an oiled 12-inch pizza pan, folding the excess dough over to create a small rim.
  • Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough.
  • Sprinkle most of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce, reserving some for the topping.
  • Add cooked meats, vegetables, and the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  • Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Let the assembled pizza rise in a warm spot for 25 minutes.

To bake the pizza:

  • Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  • Bake the pizza for about 25 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  • Let the pizza rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
