Deep-Dish Chicago Pizza

Ingrediënten
For the Dough:
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 120 ml warm water
- 1 tsp sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp dry yeast
- 30 g melted butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
For the Sauce:
- 400 g canned crushed tomatoes
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 clove garlic minced
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp dried basil
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp sugar
For the Toppings:
- 200 g mozzarella cheese shredded
- 50 g Parmesan cheese grated
- 100 g Italian sausage or pepperoni optional
- ½ tsp dried oregano for garnish
Instructies
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast.
- Let sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour, salt, melted butter, and olive oil, and knead into a smooth dough.
- Let rest for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).
- In a saucepan, heat olive oil and sauté garlic.
- Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and sugar.
- Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Roll out the dough and press it into a greased deep-dish pan, covering the sides.
- Layer mozzarella cheese on the dough, followed by meat toppings (if using), then tomato sauce.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan and dried oregano.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
