Ingrediënten

For the Dough:

  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 120 ml warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 30 g melted butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Sauce:

  • 400 g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp sugar

For the Toppings:

  • 200 g mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 50 g Parmesan cheese grated
  • 100 g Italian sausage or pepperoni optional
  • ½ tsp dried oregano for garnish

Instructies

  • In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast.
  • Let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Add flour, salt, melted butter, and olive oil, and knead into a smooth dough.
  • Let rest for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F).
  • In a saucepan, heat olive oil and sauté garlic.
  • Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and sugar.
  • Simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough and press it into a greased deep-dish pan, covering the sides.
  • Layer mozzarella cheese on the dough, followed by meat toppings (if using), then tomato sauce.
  • Sprinkle with Parmesan and dried oregano.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
