Chocolate Cake from Phillis Pellman Good

Ingrediënten
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup lard or vegetable shortening
- 2 eggs unbeaten
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2¾ cups flour
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- ½ cup boiling water
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- Cream sugars and lard or shortening.
Instructies
- Mix in eggs, buttermilk, flour, and cocoa until well blended.
- Dissolve baking soda in boiling water, then stir into batter.
- Pour into greased and floured round layer cake pans or into a long pan, 9” x 13”.
- Bake at 350° for 25–35 minutes.
- Test for doneness before removing from oven.
