Classic Sugar Cookie Cutouts

Ingrediënten

  • cup softened butter
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

Preparation Time: 40 minutes / Chilling Time: 30 minutes

Baking Time: 7 minutes per batch at 375°F

Instructies

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with a mixer on medium to high speed for about 30 seconds.
  • Add the granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Continue beating until well combined, scraping the sides of the bowl as needed.
  • Beat in the egg, milk, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  • Gradually beat in as much of the all-purpose flour as you can with the mixer.
  • Stir in any remaining flour by hand.
  • Divide the dough in half, cover it, and chill for about 30 minutes or until the dough is easy to handle.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • On a floured surface, roll out one portion of the dough at a time until it’s between 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick.
  • Use your favorite cookie cutters to cut out the dough into desired shapes.
  • Place the cutouts approximately 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 7 to 10 minutes or until the edges are firm and the bottoms are a very light brown.
  • Transfer the baked cookies to wire racks and let them cool completely.

Notes / Tips / Wine Advice:
