Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 T. baking powder
  • 1 T. sugar
  • ¾ tsp. salt
  • 3 ounces very cold cream cheese cut into small pieces
  • ¼ cup shortening
  • ½ cup green onions finely chopped (I’ve used finely minced yellow onions when I didn’t have green onions)
  • cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450°.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  • Cut in the cream cheese and shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbles.
  • Stir in the green onions.
  • Make a well in the center of the flour mixture.
  • Add the milk and stir with a fork to form a soft ball of dough.
  • Turn out the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 30 seconds.
  • Roll or pat the dough to ½-inch thickness and then cut with a biscuit cutter.
  • Place the biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until done.
