cups
all-purpose flour
▢
1
T.
baking powder
▢
1
T.
sugar
▢
¾
tsp.
salt
▢
3
ounces
very cold cream cheese
cut into small pieces
▢
¼
cup
shortening
▢
½
cup
green onions
finely chopped (I’ve used finely minced yellow onions when I didn’t have green onions)
▢
⅔
cup
milk
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 450°.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Cut in the cream cheese and shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbles.
Stir in the green onions.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture.
Add the milk and stir with a fork to form a soft ball of dough.
Turn out the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 30 seconds.
Roll or pat the dough to ½-inch thickness and then cut with a biscuit cutter.
Place the biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until done.
