Italian Bread Salad

Ingrediënten

Makes 4 servings / Prep: 30 min., Bake: 15 min., Stand: 15 min.

  • 4 cups 1-inch cubed French bread
  • 6 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ⅛ to ¼ teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
  • 1 large head romaine lettuce chopped
  • 4 to 5 large plum tomatoes chopped
  • 2 cups chopped smoked ham
  • 1 8-ounce package fresh mozzarella cheese, cubed
  • 3 green onions chopped

Instructies

  • Place bread cubes on a baking sheet.
  • Bake at 325° for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • Whisk together oil, vinegar, and next 5 ingredients.
  • Place 3 cups toasted bread cubes in a large bowl or on a large serving platter.
  • Top with lettuce and next 3 ingredients.
  • Drizzle with dressing.
  • Let stand 15 minutes; toss.
  • Sprinkle evenly with remaining bread cubes and green onions.
