Italian-Style Tuna Melt

The recipe is a classic type of tuna melt sandwich. It takes a short time to prepare and does not take a lot of mayonnaise.

Ingrediënten

  • 2, 5 oz. cans drained tuna
  • 1 diced small red onion
  • ¼ cup chopped green olives
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp bottled pesto
  • 1 tbsp rinsed and chopped capers
  • 1 fresh lemon juice
  • 8 whole-wheat bread slices of bread
  • 2 oz. low-fat mozzarella shreds
  • 1 large sliced tomato
  • 1 tsp olive oil

Instructies

  • Mix the tuna, pesto, olives, mayonnaise, onions, capers, and lemon juice in a bowl.
  • Stir the mixture.
  • On moderate heat, preheat a non-stick pan.
  • Coat it with oil.
  • Layer the tuna mixture on four bread slices, followed by tomato slices before topping with mozzarella shreds, then cover with the remaining slices.
  • Cook for 5 minutes on every side, ensuring the cheese gets to melt.
  • Serve and enjoy
