Marmalade-Glazed Beef Patties

Makes 4 servings / Prep: 10 min., Cook: 22 min.

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup fine dry breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 8-ounce can water chestnuts, drained and diced
  • cup orange marmalade
  • ½ cup water
  • cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove pressed
  • Hot cooked rice

Instructies

  • Combine ground beef, egg, and next 4 ingredients; shape mixture into 4 patties.
  • Cook patties in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat 2 minutes on each side or until browned; remove from skillet.
  • Add orange marmalade, ½ cup water, soy sauce, lemon juice, and garlic to skillet.
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook, stirring constantly, 6 minutes.
  • Add patties; reduce heat to low, and simmer 10 minutes.

Notes / Tips / Wine Advice:

 
Serve over rice.

Marmalade-Glazed Meatballs:

Shape beef mixture into 1-inch balls; place on a rack in a broiler pan, and broil 5½ inches from heat 5 minutes or until no longer pink. Place in a chafing dish. Bring orange marmalade and next 4 ingredients to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat; cook, stirring constantly, 6 minutes. Pour over meatballs.
