Oyster Fritters

Ingrediënten

Prep: 8 min., Fry: 3 min. per batch

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon ground red pepper
  • cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine melted
  • 1 large egg separated
  • Vegetable oil
  • 3 8-ounce containers Select oysters, rinsed and drained

Instructies

  • Combine flour, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl.
  • Combine water, butter, and egg yolk in a small bowl, beating well with a fork.
  • Gradually add egg mixture to dry ingredients, stirring until blended.
  • Beat egg white until soft peaks form; fold into batter.
  • Pour oil to a depth of 2 to 3 inches into a Dutch oven; heat to 375°.
  • Dip oysters in batter; fry in batches in hot oil 2 to 3 minutes or until golden, turning once.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Serve immediately.
