Air Fryer Chinese Sweet and Sour Pork Chunks

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds pork cut into chunks
  • 2 large eggs
  • 8 fluid ounces potato starch or cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/16 teaspoon Chinese five-spice
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • Sesame oil for egg mixture
  • Simple sweet and sour sauce

Instructions

  • In one mixing bowl, combine the potato starch, salt, pepper, and Chinese five-spice.
  • In another mixing bowl, beat the eggs and add a splash of sesame oil.
  • Dredge the pork pieces in the potato starch mixture, shaking off any excess.
  • Then dip each piece into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, and coat them again in the potato starch mixture.
  • Coat the air fryer basket with oil using an oil mister.
  • Place the pork pieces in the basket and spray them lightly with oil.
  • Cook in the air fryer at 340°F (170°C) for approximately 8 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket a couple of times during cooking to ensure even cooking.
  • Serve hot with the simple sweet and sour sauce.
