Classic Maryland Crab Cakes

Ingredients
- 1 lb. crabmeat flaked
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 cup saltine crackers crushed
- 1 teaspoon seafood seasoning or pepper
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 egg beaten
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flaked crabmeat, mayonnaise, crushed saltine crackers, seafood seasoning or pepper, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and beaten egg.
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly.
- Form the mixture into 8 patties, ensuring they hold together well.
- Heat about 1/8 inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the crab cakes in the hot oil until they are golden brown on both sides.
- This usually takes about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Once cooked, transfer the crab cakes to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Serve the crab cakes hot, and if desired, with a side of tartar sauce or lemon wedges.
