Spicy Paprika Spiralized Potato Nest with Homemade Tomato Ketchup
Ingredients
Spiralized Potato Nest:
- 1 large russet potato about 12 ounces
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon hot smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Spicy Tomato Ketchup:
- ½ cup canned crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon mild hot sauce such as Cholula or Frank’s
Instructions
- If using a spiralizer, spiralize the potato.
- If not, cut the potato into thin ⅛-inch-thick matchsticks.
- Place the spiralized or sliced potatoes in a large colander and rinse under cold running water until the water runs clear.
- Pat dry with paper towels.
- In a large bowl, combine the spiralized or sliced potatoes with vegetable oil, hot smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Toss until well coated.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Transfer the seasoned potatoes to the air fryer basket and cook for about 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the potatoes are browned and crisp.
- Meanwhile, in a blender, puree the crushed tomatoes, apple cider vinegar, dark brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce until smooth.
- Pour the tomato mixture into a small saucepan or skillet and simmer over medium heat until reduced by half, about 3 to 5 minutes.
- Transfer the homemade ketchup to a bowl and let it cool.
- Remove the spiralized potato nest from the air fryer and serve hot with the homemade spicy tomato ketchup.
