This homemade apple chutney is the perfect balance of sweet, tart, and spicy. Made with fresh apples and warm spices, it’s a delightful accompaniment to curries, meats, or cheese platters.
Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and cook for 5 minutes until softened.
Stir in the chopped apples, raisins, ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
Add the brown sugar, vinegar, and water.
Stir to combine.
Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cook for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chutney thickens and the apples soften.
Once cooked, remove from heat and allow the chutney to cool.
Store in sterilized jars and refrigerate.
The chutney will last for up to 2 weeks.
