Instructies
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare the Dough:
In a large bowl, beat the shortening and softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed for about 30 seconds.
Add both granulated and brown sugars, baking powder, and baking soda.
Continue to beat until well combined, scraping the bowl as needed.
Beat in the egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
Add the unsweetened cocoa powder and mix it into the dough.
Gradually beat in the all-purpose flour.
If needed, cover the dough and chill it for 30 minutes or until it's easy to handle.
Shape and Decorate:
Shape the dough into 1-inch balls.
Roll each dough ball in the red, white, and green nonpareils.
Place the coated dough balls 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake:
Bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are firm.
Add the Chocolate Surprise:
Immediately upon removing the cookies from the oven, gently press a Hershey's Kiss milk chocolate into the center of each cookie.
Cool and Serve:
Remove the cookies from the cookie sheet and allow them to cool on a wire rack.
