Instructies
Preparing the Chicken:
Toss the cubed chicken thighs in a bowl with cornstarch or potato starch until evenly coated.
Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
Spray the coated chicken with olive oil spray.
Place the chicken in the air fryer basket and cook according to the air fryer manual for chicken, approximately 24 minutes (12 minutes on each side).
Making the Sauce:
While the chicken is cooking, in a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, orange juice, hoisin sauce, ginger, and crushed garlic over medium-high heat.
Whisk well to mix.
Once the brown sugar has fully dissolved and the mixture reaches a low boil, whisk in the water and cornstarch.
Cook the sauce for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.
Mix in the sesame seeds and remove the sauce from heat.
Let it sit aside for 5 minutes to thicken further.
Coating the Chicken:
Once the chicken is done cooking in the air fryer, remove it and coat it with the prepared sauce.
Serving:
Serve the sesame chicken over cooked rice and with green beans on the side.
Notes / Tips / Wine Advice:
Wine Advice:
Pair this flavorful sesame chicken with a slightly sweet white wine such as a Gewürztraminer or a Riesling. The wine's sweetness will complement the savory flavors of the dish, while its acidity will help balance the richness of the sauce.
