Instructies
Preparing the Chicken:
Toss the cubed chicken thighs in a bowl with cornstarch or potato starch until evenly coated.
Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
Spray the coated chicken with olive oil spray.
Place the chicken in the air fryer basket and cook according to the air fryer manual for chicken, approximately 24 minutes (12 minutes on each side).
Making the Sauce:
While the chicken is cooking, in a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, orange juice, hoisin sauce, ginger, and crushed garlic over medium-high heat.
Whisk continuously until well mixed.
Once the brown sugar has fully dissolved and the mixture reaches a low boil, whisk in the water and cornstarch.
Cook the sauce for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.
Mix in the sesame seeds.
The sauce should thicken further within 5 minutes of cooking.
Remove the sauce from the heat and set it aside for 5 minutes to thicken further.
Coating the Chicken:
Once the chicken is done cooking in the air fryer, remove it and transfer it to a mixing bowl.
Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken and toss to coat evenly.
Serving:
Serve the sesame chicken over cooked rice.
Garnish with sliced green onions.
Notes / Tips / Wine Advice:
Wine Advice:
Pair this flavorful sesame chicken with a semi-dry Riesling or a light-bodied Pinot Grigio. The wine's acidity will complement the savory flavors of the dish, while its slight sweetness will balance the richness of the sauce.
