Yeast Buns
Makes 3–31/2 dozen rolls
Ingrediënten
- 3 packages dry yeast
- 1 cup lukewarm water
- 2 cups milk
- ½ cup lard or vegetable oil
- ½ cup sugar
- 7 –8 cups flour
- 1 Tbsp. salt
Instructies
- Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water.
- Set aside.
- Scald milk and add the shortening and sugar to it.
- Let cool to lukewarm, then add yeast mixture to it.
- Beat in 3½–4 cups flour.
- Let rest in warm place for ½ hour.
- Beat in salt and remaining flour.
- Knead on lightly floured surface until the dough is no longer sticky.
- Let rise until double in bulk.
- Punch down, then form into balls the size of a large walnut.
- Place in a greased baking pan and let rise again until nearly double.
- Bake at 400° for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.
